Blumenfeld - Etude for the left hand alone (take 2)
on: December 08, 2015, 06:02:42 AM
I've continued working on this piece for most of this year, and have decided that it is about as good as it is going to get for now. This is the first classical piece I've memorized in close to a decade. The recording reveals so many more things I could do, but I figured I would share it for those who enjoy this music.

Feedback is welcome, but please try to find at least one thing positive to say :) - I am an amateur, piano is strictly a hobby for me at this time.

This is using my Tascam DR-40 recorder, which is a major improvement for sound over my camcorder.

For those of you who are curious - take 1 was posted at (camcorder audio quality): https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=58558

Excellent is a word that underexaggerates your performance of this piece.

I'm new to this forum and find it extremely helpful in obliterating ignorance to my South African knowledge of classical music.

Keep it up ... Truthfully I've never heard this piece before, your execution is technically perfect and after a long time away from the piano sounds great - but expression, I'm clueless, Blumenfeld is new to me. Well done mate 👏

there is no need to be afraid of negative feedback...

your playing is beautiful--so is your piano--and so is the quality of this video... ;D

I know people here can be mean... but it's usually due to a perceived lack of respect for the music, or for the forum, itself.  I have really never seen anyone who posted an honest recording of themselves--and who took the time to make it their best effort...receive "mean" comments--unless of course they claim to be "the world's greatest pianist" or something combative like that.  Usually even the poorest pianists who make a worthwhile effort are treated kindly by all--(a few really jerky members notwithstanding of course)... or they receive no comment.

so, that being said...I look forward to hearing much more from you!  Well done :)

The motivations for learning the piano are diverse, ranging from personal enjoyment to cultural appreciation and professional aspirations.
