Mindfulness - how can it help Piano players?

I was thrilled to come across this article by Doug Hanvey, even more so when he allowed me to reblog it on the Pianodao site. It is full of great references, as well as a practical exercise that you can use yourself and in a piano lesson...

This is the kind of thing which happens naturally (or not)
after years and years of bloodied fingers! Self awareness, proprioception, not reacting to yourself, etc.
