Messiah Organist on Crack

I thought it was kinda funny.

Sounds like an organ exam I've played before.....

Ouch, I feel sorry for that congregation.
A modern house without a flush toilet... uncanny.

Do you know, I had a quick bash through some of Messiah myself earlier today, including that well-known chorus. It was all I could do to resist the temptation to play the closing cadence in D flat. Honest.

Not exactly the fastest reaction times I've ever observed..........

Double ouch.  As an organist I feel for the dude (or dudette).  To that organist I say, "God's grace to you."

I just had to listen to it again!! My parents thought I was crying!!! I love the little half step at the end in the organ (guessing it's not supposed to be that way...)

It could be Charles Ives' arrangement. Possibly?

LOL!!!!! What the hell happened there? What was the organist playing at? Do you reckon something happened with the organ - is it really possible to play it that wrongly??

I actually laughed out loud, now my parents think i'm weird....

I just don't get it. If you were that bad, surely you wouldn't inflict yourself on an audience??

Since the Christmas season is approaching, I thought I'd bump this one back up.  Still makes me laugh.

Honestly, the Messiah is one of my favorite Baroque choral works.  It's been in and out of my car cd player for the past 5 months or so.

This one is right up there with the beauty pageant contestant playing the "Chopin Sher-zo" in Texas.

A friend of mine had a copied CD with a bunch of musical bloopers, containing things like this organist blowup, and a Grieg concerto where practically every opening octave was wrong.  Does anybody know where to find something like this?

I shouldn't laugh but, I just had to replay that one over and over.

Too funny.

Maybe the organist reached out to draw a stop and got confused where to put back his/her hands on the keys to play.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Holy crap! That's hilarious! ;D ;D - I almsot get the feeling he was doing it on purpose - as if you wouldn't hear it and at least attempt to adjust!

kinda agree with deja vu - although he probably had the audience laughing - which is something to be said for 'cheer' in the holiday season.  hearing the messiah for the 1000th time is probably overkill.  gotta have something different.  even God doesn't like everything the same - does He?  and, i personally think He has a sense of humor.  especially if it was really a mistake.

It is funny to me that so much focus is bestowed upon a mistake (or a few) made almost 2 years ago (the playing ones) but no mention there is of the much graver mistake of considering this music Christmas music.  This is for Easter.  No fault, though.  Whomever has never made a mistake shall cast the first stone.  I surely can't.

And yes, by God's almighty grace all sins are pardoned, and she does have a sense of humor, although if one goes by the old testament anyway, she also has a temper.  :)  Don't tempt your God.

twould be hard to cover ones mistake on a pipe organ.  terrible to think of the embarrassment - and yet i once knew an organist who just added stuff whenever it sounded like a mistake and made it sound good again.
