Beginning classic...
on: December 25, 2004, 08:20:37 PM
Hi everybody,

I'm sixteen years old and i play piano for about six years.

Recently, I had the opportunity to hear a pianist playing a classical piece.
Now i want to begin classic and I post on this forum to obtain informations about what
piece could be approachable for me, and what piece could please me (maybe the most popular...)

Thanks a lot.

PS: Sorry for my poor english

Hello mofolaz, and welcome  :D!

It is wonderful (in my opinion) to read that you that you are taking an interest in classical music.

You say you have been playing the piano for 6 years already, this is great!

1.  Have you had a teacher?

2.  What type(s) of music have you already been exploring?  What types do you already enjoy (playing and listening)?

You said that you had the opportunity to hear a pianist play a classical piece...

1.  Do you know what it was?

2.  Can you describe some of the things that you liked about it?

3.  How did it make you feel?

As far as what pieces may be approachable for you, you are correct, this forum is stock-full of information that can assist you with this.  But perhaps you could give us a few more details about yourself so that we can better aid with finding for you a satisfactory match.

Thanks :)

I will try to answer to all these questions :) :

First I must tell you that I live in France and thus, you have to understand why I'm talking like a 9 years old guy!

1- Sure I have but I changed a lot.

2- I play piano for 6 years old but not regularly ( school is hard :) ). Presently,
I'm playing well Your Song and Hardest Word of Elton John and the melodies of Yann Tiersen (Amelie Poulain).

3- I don't know what it was but (Thanks to P2P) I've downlaoded about 100 Classical pieces from Beethoven, Liszt, Debussy, Chopin.
Here are my favourites:

-Clair de Lune from Debussy (OH MY GOD)
-Arabesque from Debussy
-Campanella from Liszt
-Nocturne in C mirror from Chopin

and much others

But I know very well that I dont have enough experience to play these pieces

4- I liked it because i Think that this is the thrue music coming from soul and not from balls (now i hate rap, RnB and other Soup).

5 - Sorry but I dont have enough time to describe that :):)

Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. After his recital we got the chance talking to Tenici about his Wagner/Liszt project. Read more
