Digitalni piano Korg LP-380 vs. Yamaha YDP-52S
on: January 09, 2016, 08:49:40 PM
Hello,

I would like to buy digital piano for my daughter for music scool. Also for my pleasure...I have doubt between Korg LP-380 and Yamaha YDP-52S. I would like to have a better piano sound and keys like on original acoustic piano.
I would like to read your opinions.

I have used and owned both Korg and Yamaha keyboards... they are both fine brands...   Korg tends to be a better sound...while Yamaha has a better "feel" IMO..  but they are both worthy.  The problem tends to be that most pianists who are classically trained won't take the time to learn all the ins and outs of what these modern marvels are capable of... they just play them.   I am guilty, too... just suggesting that you bear that in mind...you don't really need to pay extra and get all the fancy bells and whistles.

dcstudio, thank you.

you are most welcome :)   they are not ignoring you... it's just that most of them are purists who tend to stay strictly acoustic.

Only a handful of members of this forum gives advice regarding digital pianos. I have read somewhere in this forums that "any piano is better than none" I recently bought a clavinova for myself this december(with the help of the members in this forums of course.), and I think that was the right call, since the 430 has GH3. And I think the s52 has GH. Maybe there'll be slight differences in note repitition (according to yamaha's guide) but the weight of the Graded hammer is good for practice. And the sound is absolutely lovely. IMO go for the s52, if you can splurge a little more cash, move to an entry level clavinova with gh3.

(I have yet to try korg, yamaha is the only dealer available near me so my opinion may be biased)

Hope this helps. Good luck in choosing. :)
Yup.. still a beginner. Up til now..

When will a teacher accept me? :/

GH action kind of depends on the instrument it's set up in, I've played on GH action piano's that were very satisfying in terms of action response. In fact at one point I preferred it. I own Kawai now, I may never move from Kawai. But I've also played on a couple of Korg pianos I liked very much.

We should buy what pleases us to play. There isn't a bomb waiting to go off in this choice LOL !
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

I have bought Yamaha (after forum members recommendation) and after 7-8 days playing on Yamaha today I try to play Korg. IMO Yamaha is much better in key action and piano sound. Korg seem like it is keyboard, not piano. Reiyza you have right, S52 has GH. Thanks to all of you for helpful opinions.
