THE EUROPEANS ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN US AMERICANS AT GERSHWIN!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!

Certainly a very interesting, personal and romantic interpretation of the Rhapsody In Blue. I felt that there was something vital missing in the rhythm in certain sections though. We'll see what other members have to say. Thanks for posting it.

Anyways, now that I've listened to people, I think Leonard Bernstein is even better imo than Shimkus. And Bernstein is a born American! (but he was the sun of Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, so maybe that's why he's so good  :P )

Bernstein, hands down- he's the only one who really understands Gershwin as Jazz! And no, white, native born Americans are not Europeans, they are Americans. It is pretty backward to think there are racial tendencies that overcome cultural environment!

It's their nationality yes, but not their ethnicity.

did you catch the season opening concert in LA a couple of years ago ?  Herbie Hancock and Gustavo Dudamel, two amerikaners.  for me, their Gershwin conveyed a rhythmic swagger that is usually missing.
