Is there any way our Mango Tree can still survive?
on: January 21, 2016, 10:26:41 AM
Hello there!

I am quite preoccupied by the state which our Mango Tree is in, which appears to be dying. We live in a tropical country. A storm has uprooted it around a year ago, and it has since been very sparse of leaves. We tried several times to water it, however, which may have kept it alive, somehow.

However, recently, I have noticed that it has REALLY FEW leaves, so we placed a hose on it, and watered it for about an hour. That was a few days ago.

And it has been a LONG time since it's rained.

Today I notice that it has practically dried up almost all its leaves. It has almost no green leaves at all; the rest are either gone, or brown and drooping.

Why?

It leaves me with a heavy heart to see Nature, especially in our own very garden, go down like this. It leaves me with a sad feeling, so that I am much preoccupied with it.

I've posted it in this forum since I have used this forum for quite some time now, and was hoping if there would be anyone out there gracious enough to offer some suggestions.

Would you know any good gardening forums out there? Where can I find an arborist? How much will it cost?

By the way, here are some pictures:

I know little to none about gardening and plants and watering trees. Any help out there would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much!

How sad to see such a large, beautiful tree die. I have not much idea about gardening but what I would do would be buy a lot of soil and put it all around the roots where it shows empty space in the picture. I would water it regularly too.

Thank you for your advice, kawai!

Any other suggestions?
