Attwood Sonatina in G
on: January 23, 2016, 08:54:27 PM
Hi all,

After listening to this piece on YouTube, I discovered that there seems to be two different versions of it!

The main difference is the left hand accompaniment. One version has in measure 4 a half note for the left hand and in the other a quarter note.

Measure 5 has two different Alberti basses. One is f#dcd and the other is dcf#c!

Perhaps strangest of all is measure 12. One version has a d quarter note followed by a quarter rest and then f#ef#g for the third beat. The other version replaces the d quarter and rest with a half note d one octave higher and then the notes daf#a.

Measure 13 is also jacked up.

All these different notes? Is one more "correct" than the other? Do editorial markings include the changeing of notes?

Finally, could someone suggest a suitable tempo. This piece seems to be performed at rather large differences in speed from Allegretto (around 112) to Allegro (160).

It sounds best to me around 138.

Thank you, Joe.
