For Those that are Interested...
on: January 27, 2016, 11:33:29 AM
Tales of my death have been greatly exaggerated...

Ok, to stop ripping off Mark Twain (I think) I just thought I'd say that I'm back and I'm going to make an effort to post whenever I can once again.

Also, I feel I should be a bit more radical in the performances I share and also be more forthright with my opinions because while that may ruffle some people I'd rather spend time making friends that know what I'm about. I'd also rather take part in more debates that aren't the worn out, "Which is best?" Type of thing. Anyway, I don't know if anyone cares as it was a while ago that I was here but I'd like to think I made more than acquaintances but perhaps whatever the internet equivalent of friends is.

Anyway, hope to talk to the familiar people again and meet whoever has become active since I left. :)

Finally, I feel like this forum could be part of a new nucleus of a new online based musical revival of piano music and classical (and also other neglected types of music). Perhaps we just need to think bigger and work together. Just a fantasy I have maybe but perhaps it can come true to some small extent...

Hey Josh,
Glad you made it back!
I look forward to your newly (possibly) 'ruffling' opinions!

Welcome back Josh! I must admit I have been wondering what kept you from posting recently because you had been pretty active before.
Ruffling opinions definitely make threads far more fun:-)

HHhhmmnnn. ... frankly I feel it is a bit strange to consider someone "missing" from PS when his last post was just about 3 months ago.   It is quite usual for members to be silent for months and sometimes, a year or two, then to reappear and be "active" again.

Anyways, despite that you never left ... welcome back! ;D

No, Harrison, unfortunately, he's gone. He told me over PM. He's only posted once since then; and that was because because I sent him a PM, and told him to check it via his youtube channel.

I've talked to AJ fairly recently and though it's unclear whether he'll be back on PS he might become active on youtube or elsewhere soon, I'm actually going to record a version or two of one of my favourite preludes of his and also we may collaborate on a hymn or song. If things work out I will post links to the results on PS.

Too many trolls and too much junk :(

but if the real players leave the site than the trolls have won...and that is sad.  In spite of the junk--and there is a sh!tload of it here--there are still some actual piano students who have some actual questions.  once in a while we get a nice post in the audition room, and on occasion there are actual discussions here about music... so I stay.   It's also quite funny to read some of these "reaction farming" posts--or posts by people who claim to be professionals and yet ask the most basic and stupid of questions.  At my age,  I am not easily fooled, but on occasion even I have been drawn in by a troll or two.... some of them are just ridiculous.

to the OP: glad to see you are back Josh.  A pianist has returned to pianostreet and that is a good thing.
