Recent pieces: Nocturne, Waltzes - Opinion
on: January 30, 2016, 07:29:24 PM
Hello,

So I changed significantly the direction and the style of my pieces, I've been trying to make more coherent, expressif and significant pieces but I don't know if I'm improving or not, I think that it's definitely more significant now, but I don't know if it sounds good or not. I've been posting here since about a year, so maybe a few of you know my pieces, I'd really like to have your opinion on whether the new ones are an improvement over the old ones. I'm going to include 3 segment of unfinished new pieces I've been composing and one old one for comparaison.

Thank you for your help

And an old one for comparaison if you don't know my pieces

Hi there!
First of all, let me start by saying - very nice job!
I listened to the 3 pieces + the old one. I really like your style. Feels like a more laid back version of ravel, with some other stuff mixed in. I personally liked the old piece more, but maybe it's because the other pieces weren't completed, so I couldn't really get into them.
The 3 pieces sounded great, but I hope that you will work on some nice development. If not, they might sound a bit flat. That's what I liked about the old pieces - it had lots of textures, especially near the end. The 3 pieces, as good as they were, sounded pretty similar in some way, so I hope they develop differently.
Anyway, great job and good luck! Can't wait to listen to the finished pieces!

Thanks piulento! :) I'm glad you like them!

You're right about the textures, they make a piece better, and I haven't changed that about my compositions, I already have in mind how the pieces are going to evolve, I will post the finished product as soon as they're done :)

Thanks adodd81802! I'm glad you liked them and happy to having encouraged you to compose too!

And I will put a link to the score over here as you suggested :) I only included the old one cause the new ones aren't finished yet
