Bulow's Beethoven Sonatas -- What do "M.T." and "S.T." mean??

They usually come when getting back to tempo after a ritard but not always. Is it "Main Theme" and "Secondary Theme" or is whatever-it-is having the same initials just a coincidence? Thanks.

What language are the other indicators in the music?
English, French, Italian or German?
