New Liszt Piece

I am thinking about doing a big Liszt work. I just finished playing his technical exercises Op.1, 3rd Hungarian Rhapsody, and Consolations. Maybe an etude like Waldesrauschen or Un Sospiro? Any suggestions would be great.

currently my fav of Frank's solo piano pieces. It's so 'Schubert' like, cannot get enough of it, why it is not performed or discussed more baffles me, i hear more and more beauty each time i listen to  it.

How about the "Hymne de l'enfangt"? Also, the Sonneto 104 del Petrarcha is one of the most beautiful pieces I've heard.

In transcriptions, the transcriptions of Schumann's Widmung and Aliabiev's Rossignol stand out.

Some of the Transcendental Etudes are really quite, well... Transcendental. Wouldn't you know. That said, some of them are easier than they first seem. Wilde Jagd IMO is an example of this, at least for my hand.
That said, I'd do another Hungarian Rhapsody. Contenders include the famous #2 in C sharp minor, the also famous #6 in D flat, and a personal favorite of mine, #8 in F sharp minor.
If you want to do an etude, Un Sospiro isn't a bad choice. Neither is La Campanella, depending on your strengths.

Completely agree. Harrison! Wilde Jagd fits the hand so well. Gnomenreigen is delightful! So whimsical. Forest murmurs, I think it translates. It's fun to pick out which animal each little melody and run might be! Hear the conversation between the animals and trees. If you want to impress your friends, Transcendental 1 is there for you. If you want to impress the audience, #10 is there for you. If you want to impress your professors, #5 is there for you, HAHA .

I am not good at octaves, so some of the TE are hard for me. Gnomenreigen sounds like a lot of fun.

More important than opinions of pianists you've met only through a Swedish piano forum is how it actually goes when you play the pieces themselves.
Play through all the ones that you like to listen to. Chances are one of them will stick; when more than one sticks is when things get fun

Anyways, I think Un Sospiro is a very beautiful piece. I can't think of an etude that is more beautiful.

I like the Vallee d'Obermann (which I don't find particularly hard), but you need a rather solid Octave/chordal Technique,

I find it in-between Totentanz (for 2 pianos) and Rigoletto (both are good too, although the solo Totentanz is rather difficult)

or the Benediction is a good choice too . but it is rather difficult for me (I have rather small hands)

What about the Hexameron?
I know its not entirely composed by Liszt but its still commonly known as one of his pieces.

his 7 hungarian portraits are super dope. about 30 minutes of music total. if you excerpt, i'd go for this one, my favorite of the lot
