What is your favorite impromptu?
I like all of them of them but I like OP.142/1,Op.90/3, and Op.142/3 the best.

Beethoven Op 2/2
Chopin Op 20, maybe op 47/38
Debussy Etude 7
Grieg Op 16
Want to do:

For me, the best ones are 90/1, 90/4, 142/2
I especially recommend listening to Brendel play them (He's definitely my favorite interpreter of Schubert's music).

I like 90-2 , the scalar parts are fine and dandy ,but the dramatic middle and ending parts are so grand when played right.

I like all of them. He only had a few so why not all of them. It isn't like Bach and his prelude fugues or Chopin and his etudes or Scarlatti and his ten thousand one page sonatas.

Schubert was the king of the impromptu IMO (I'm actually writing a set in his memory, lol), and the Op. 90 and 142 contrast interestingly. If I remember correctly, Op. 142 was originally to be a sonata but was made into 4 impromptus to sell better.
IMO Op.90 is more "impromptu" like, and generally better as a whole, but I'm a sucker for the first impromptu of 142. Of the op. 90, my order of liking goes thusly (though I love them all):
#4, A flat
#3, G flat
#1, C min
#2 E flat

Personally, my favorite Schubert impromptus are 90/1 and 142/1. I love the 2 against 3 sections of 90/1.
