101. Never plays anything funny
i think Beethoven's "Hunt" sonata in Eb+ op31 no.3 1st mvt development where the left hand gets the 16th slur figures in the low register is funny

i spent several years dressing in black and white no matter if i was playing for church or simply going to the grocery store.  it was awful.  i wouldn't do it again.  people don't notice you much.  you're kind of 'incognito.'  it's good if you are accompanying, but now i see in color.  the contrast of color against the black piano is more visually appealing.  same for guys.  i wish that they would abandon the black pants and wear red once in a while.

what number are we on?

has all measures numbered.

would never touch the strings of the piano with bare hands or fingers (having been severely warned by the piano technician that it will cause damage to the strings)

gets very irritated when they see cigarette burns on practice pianos

insists on the bench being the right height

is frustrated to the point of distraction by wobbly benches

mentally yells at people who chew gum and wad up candy paper at concerts

would never stick gum under a bench

64.  Could purchase Italy in trade for all the musical Cd's, DVD's, and musical equipment they own!

65.  Doesn't know that the Superbowl has come to their  hometown!  Yes, seriously!

66.  Get's to work after a major hurricane, and wonders why there is water all over the floor, and the hospital is closed!   Yes, seriously!

67. Is very embarrassed to admit the above!  I live under a rock! Or, is that on a piano bench in front of a piano? No time for TV.  In my defense, I work nights, and sleep days. I woke up and drove in to work.  Had no clue we were going to get the brunt of the Hurricane!

68.  Loves, Cherishes and  totally lives to play, feel, breathe, and soak up all forms of classical music. Tries to become and live through the piece being played, and hopes they are doing the song justice.

69.  Doesn't want to sleep at all, SLEEP, such a waste of time!

148. Knows how to PRONOUNCE Chopin (like [sh'pah], with emphasis on the second syllable)
149. Knows not only how to play etudes, but also how to pronounce them (like it can't be put in letters, but emphasize the _second_ syllable, and keep the y in [ey] rather silent. An etude is not an acorn.

their idea of a nightmare is playing a piece for recital and someone noticing that they played an accidental wrong, totally messing up the entire perfection of knowing the piece as it is supposed to sound (esp as regards to modern music).

You know you're a serious pianist ...

I don't know that this really qualifies... I mean if you're a serious pianist, you're serious about the music as well, so if someone is butchering a piece you really can't help but criticize the performance, even if it's just in your head.

i liked that one about 'going to the piano when hungry.'  how about, doesn't even feel hunger when playing the piano.  in fact, if allowed - would practice nonstop through at least one meal (lunch?).

maybe pianists pay for this with their health sometiems?  you know, the pale, sickly, pianist complex.

yet remember loads of music somewhere in the recesses of their brain and can track dots on guidance systems faster than most other people (just guessing on the last one).  also, they are asked to do finger dexterity things like 'can you get that quarter out of the seatbelt buckle?'

ok.  to recognize a serious pianist - look at their stubby fingernails. that's a dead giveaway.
