Three-part Invention (Sinfonia) No. 14 in Bb-Major
on: March 27, 2016, 06:57:58 PM
I have given some feedback, so I thought I would upload some of my playing. This was my first ever attempt at recording a piece to share here, so don't mind the hiccups please!  :D

Recorded on my Model O, restored from 1913. Very recently had the action regulated and hammers reshaped and am very happy with the tone.

Please let me know what you think...things to improve, etc. My goal is to upload more often and maybe shake any nerves while recording. Thanks all!

Tenk, this is some good work here.
I like your approach to this, especially as shown in the  first 12 bars - you seem quite 'in your stride'…  Very clean, and buoyant - and all voices heard easily.  The ornaments spring right off..
In measure 11, the e natural in the treble clef on the 4th beat, i think could use a mordent, (starting on the auxiliary note, to avoid the doubling of the e, plus, i think it would work well dramatically.)
The second half is a bit less in control, and a bit wobbly- and i was wondering that if the tempo was just a tad slower, you would be able to keep that 'stride' that comes off so confidently.
Also perhaps just a bit more of dynamic shading could be effective.
Really good work!
Thanks for posting.

Thanks Theme and Kalos for your feedback!

I agree the first half is much cleaner than the second, which I suspect comes from learning the piece in that order ;D For my next couple sessions I will begin at the second half and focus on getting it as clean as the first. I prefer a bit more lively tempo than many recordings I've heard (my inspiration for this tempo is probably obvious hehe). I will keep working and upload again in the future. Thanks again!
