Pagodas is my favorite movement of the estampes suite. Debussy really nails the flavor of the gamelan atmosphere

Wow, this is great!
This is such a wonderful piece, and the Fazioli really gives it a nice deep sound. You really dealt well with most of the really difficult things about this piece.
I'd suggest not being afraid of "mliking" more sound of the piano - you have such a great tone, why not give it more volume and juice? I'm afraid that if I were in a concert hall I wouldn't be able to hear you at all...
Also, maybe try paying more attention to balance between the two hands, so the leading voice (in whichever hand it is) will be heard properly.
But again - this is wonderful. You really capture the proper atmosphere of this piece - this was impressionist in its best! :)

:D Right on! That's one of the reasons why I enjoy playing this composition so much! You almost feel like you are in a hypnotic state...very difficult to explain but I hope you understand me. It is an extraordinary gift by Debussy, isn't it?

Hypnotic state is right. There is so much organically going on in this piece and it takes you right into another land. It isn't difficult at all to explain or understand. Debussy was a genius.

:D Thanks very much for your detailed comments. Performing these pieces on this Fazioli was a delight. The hall was both quite vibrant and intimate at the same time, which gave me a lot of room to exploit the soft playing (mp-ppp) with ease. I felt the amount of sound given was all that was needed in these specific circumstances. Perhaps more sound would have over power the intrinsic beauty of these pieces, due to the characteristics of the hall. Adjusting to each acoustics is such a challenge for all musicians. A never ending learning process!!! Once again, thanks for putting so much thought into your commentary. Cheers, ~Beatriz~  :)

Quoting you: "Debussy was a genius", I couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for listening and stopping by. Cheers, ~Beatriz~

Bravo!

I really love your playing of this piece. I often hear it faster, and it just ruins the quality of Debussy.

And the holy Fazioli is lovely as always. <3
