Beethoven Sonatas - Live performance by Pizarro
on: December 31, 2004, 03:15:39 PM
I keep meaning to post this. It's a live performance recorded on BBC of Pizarro playing the Beethoven cycle.

Thank you for posting the link, Hmoll.  He uses too much rubato in the first movement of His last sonata. :P

Not too fond of his interpretation either, but thanks anyway.

Just glanced through it, can't really judge from what I've heard but MAN that's an awesome clunker in op. 111 at about page 3! (about 7:35?)

Thanks for the posting, bit disappointed, I listened to one of my favourite movements, the Andante from opus 25, I thought it was a touch sluggish. Jeno Jando's 'Naxos' recordings I think are very good, cheap to buy too.

It's nice to be able to get an idea of what these pieces sound like, as I don't own a full recording of the set yet.

But still, his interpretations might not be perfect, but still I don't think we should trash Pizarro.  I mean really, did you ever record all of the Beethoven Sonatas?

It's not about whether any of us have recorded the complete sonatas.

Anyway, on a different kind of forum, someone posted this link to the 60 methological potholes and it's quite useful.  The above pothole is the first one listed. ;)
