on: May 03, 2016, 06:06:52 PM
Hello! Which piece you think would suit better with the rest of repertoire, for a master's audition? Brahms Op. 119, Brahms Sonata 2, Schumann Op. 12 or Schumann Sonata 2?

Repertoire

Bach: Prelude and Fugue in B major, BWV 892 (Book II)
Scarlatti: Sonata k.517 in D minor
Beethoven: Sonata op.7
Chopin: Etude no 4, op.10
Debussy: Etude no 11 (or a Ligeti)
Babadjanian: Poem

I like the Schumann pieces a lot, but I'm growing on Brahms, as well  :)

Whatever makes a better presentation. If it was me, I'd say brahms 2 is too much work to share with the rest and maintain quality.

I might do my masters one day. I might be 40 years old by then but im not going to let that stop me.
Beethoven-Alkan, concerto 3
Faure barcarolle 10
Mozart-Stradal, symphony 40

If only choose between Brahms Op 119 and Schumann Op 12,
as audience I pick Schumann,
but as candidate I would expect the examiner will be less pleased with Schumann because it is technically not so challenging.
