The list is endless. Can't you set any boundaries ?

Anyway here are some suggestions. Since you don't have given any information about your taste, these reflect my own taste.

William Schuman :

Prokofiev :

George Perle (check out the others movements of the suite on  YoutTube) :

Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee :

Ginastera :

Luis Gianneo :

Rodoflo Halffter:

Ross Lee Finney :

Messiaen :

Hovhaness :

There are a million more, but this should get you started.

+1 to worov, was more patient than I today.

to OP, not only is the list endless, there is already a vast amount of ideas and examples discussed prior. please for all that is good, and beautiful, and all things nice sugar and spice, learn to do something called using the forum search function. i have trouble believing you think so highly of yourself that you think you are the first to ask this question.....
20 seconds of effort yielded quite little trove of goodies just here alone....

Feelin' a little generous, this gem from approx 1914-1915 is really rad

also , context matters, college, is it undergrad, masters, doctoral, artist performing diploma? if undergrad is it a BA BM BME audition? what's the standard, is it a highly competitive conservatory the goal or a smaller regional university or large big public program w/ huge entering class admitted. what's the time constraint, what other pieces being showcased, etc.

Ross Lee Finney :

funny coincidence you shared that Finney, i acquired that score last fall and didi a high res scan w/ bw conversion and ripped audio from the CD for it and shared in my circle of contacts. didn't think anyone else knew about it. super cool work,  read through parts of the hymn the other day, i've tinkered w/ the idea of working it up one of these years.

Well, as a matter of fact, I just discovered Finney a few days ago. I heard some of his inventions on YouTube and thought these were very interesting. (Is there a CD of these ? I would be very interested). So I listened some others pieces by him and found this sonata, which is, I think, very beautiful. Do you have some favorite pieces by Finney ?

i will double check sources if there is a cd recording of those, i only had the album w/ some cool lesser know 20th century american sonatas of which the Finney was one that i sought out after getting the score. so far, not super familiar with his piano music outside sonatas, and this is my favorite of the lot so far.  8)

Since this is for a college-admission, as a practical strategy I recommend that you find out as specifically as possible what the expectations are of the Admission Committee (written and unwritten):

    - are there any published rules (re length, difficulty, definition of "20th century")

    - any "likes" or prejudices of the committee
(i.e. do they love or hate: Webern, Gershwin, Ustvolskaya, Yanni ...)
(just kidding about Yanni  8) )

    - try to find out what pieces have been used by students that were admitted last year !

    - Find out the criteria or procedure used to evaluate your playing

    - of course, try to pick out something that you love and can play really well, subject to above constraints

Good luck. And after you begin your next phase, I hope you decide to explore 20th - 21st century music. Great stuff out there.
