Czerny (abrsm grade 4)
on: June 14, 2016, 01:33:15 PM
Hi everybody,

I am in full preparation for my grade 4 exam and one of the B list pieces is a little Czerny exercise that I am gonna perform.

Here is my first recording:

Do you think this will pass? What can be improved?

Cheers!

Nice, nothing wrong with it and for exam purposes I am sure it will be fine.

I don't think there's anything on technically that can be improved (maybe the left hand creeps too loudly now and again)

Base notes are heavier and so require more pressure (for the use of a better word) than the middle or upper register of the keyboard, so just keep that in mind with the left hand and you'll consciously play it quieter.

Without seeing you play, it can be unknown if there's any obvious things we could see that may also need work as it's not just about what you hear!

Lastly, I think just practicing this piece more until you're fully comfortable, I am sure you can play more difficult pieces than this, but when I heard this it sounded like it was at the upper limit of your ability, like it wasn't fully comfortable. Maybe that's not the case I might be just trying to be too pedantic, as you've done really well.

As said exam on this should be fine.
