Taking an interest in Hummel, Dussek and Others
on: July 06, 2016, 03:11:39 PM
Hi,

After a while being rather elitist in the kinds of composers I've listened to or wanted to play I've decided to change tack and want to know a bit more about a few rarer composers. Classical/Early Romantic composers like Hummel, Moscheles, Dussek, Clementi and anyone else of that sort who is often under-recognised or at least has a few works really worth checking out or even playing.

I've already found some good Hummel but I wonder if my search can go faster and be more fruitful with a little help. Thanks in advance.
Care to see my playing?

there's a LOT of really good music to be found/discovered - played w/ even just the parameters you mentioned.
Thal will give a nod to Wofl,
I plug Bomtempo every chance I get
ie (scores can be a bit dicey to find i have one of the sonatas i scanned a couple years ago)

ONLY thal?! I made thread about him for godsake! How can you forget about me ;(

Another reason to believe that Jon Field was the superstar of his day. Just listen to how much this older contemporary of Chopin took from Field's concertos.

A beautiful concerto by a 15year old wunderkind. Absolutely amazing..
