VIDEO: Liszt, La Campanella
on: July 07, 2016, 03:03:44 PM
Several people have asked when I would be making a video of one of my performances of La Campanella.  This recording is from a solo recital I did in Atlanta on September 5, 1986 (1986 was the centennial of Liszt's death), where I paired it with Un Sospiro.  I combined it with the public-domain score to produce this score video and uploaded it to YouTube the other day.  It's certainly not a perfect performance, but I think I did a credible job with this playful but demanding piece.

That's a good performance, more dance-y than some.

I thought you were a bit tentative in the jumps section at the beginning but by the midway it had conviction. Good job on the lh jumps in the coda; I always felt that was the hardest aspect and you play them in rhythm too, which I don't think everyone does.

Thanks for the feedback!  I agree that the LH jumps at the end are the hardest part.
