Will you sign a petition to honour the memory of this remarkable man?

It's the centenary of the birth of Dinu Lipatti in March 2017. Despite his tragically short career (he died aged 33), his talent shines as bright as ever among pianists and connoisseurs.
In Bucharest, Romania, the family house where Lipatti spent his formative years (1930-1943) is up for sale. It's an architectural gem built by Dinu's grandfather in 1900. It survived the 1977 earthquake that flattened much of the city; by a miracle, Ceausescu spared it when redeveloping the boulevard in which it stands. Now it faces demolition or development, unless we act immediately.
The house would make a magnificent small museum to commemorate this 'Prince among Pianists'. It is in the centre of town, walking distance from the Enescu Museum, Atheneum and other cultural monuments.

Petition to the Romanian Ministry of Culture

Although the house is designated as a historic monument, it is in grave and imminent danger. It is ensnarled in a foreclosure dispute and the owners want it off their hands fast. We are calling on the Romanian Ministry of Culture to step in and protect the building. The Ministry appears to have no idea about Lipatti's international reputation: this petition will prove it.
