Student of music time to practice
on: August 16, 2016, 04:46:20 AM
Hey yo!
So, a couple of days ago I set up the schedule of the next semester (August - December) at the conservatory where I stude (National Conservatory of Music, Peru), and got really pissed off (once again) because of the horrible it was. This semester we (piano students) have to take ten subjects, being most of them two hours long (Chorus is three hours long, and two times per week). The thing is, I got only 1h 30 min to practice, on mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays, and 4h on thursdays and fridays. Saturdays and sundays are, thank to god, free. This happens because the teachers earn too low income working there, so they have to look up for other places to teach, like schools or amateur academies. Also, since transport here in Lima is almost collapsed, I lose too much time going to the Conservatory: One hour and thirty minutes in the best case;plus the return, that makes three hours lost in transport.
So I was wondering, how much time you guys (those who are following the musician career at colleges, conservatories, or professional academies) got to practise , considering the subjects you need to take, transport, etc. and how you manage it.
It would be interesting that you could share your study plan (Idk if that´s the correct name. I mean, the scheme where you see all the subjects you´ll take in the rest of your career).
=)

Hola amigo :)

Me llamo Natsu. Me gusta piano. (I tried)

Peru... I don't have any friends from Peru but it looks like a happy place. At least you don't have to cross the Andes to get to school :)

I live in Ohio (near Cleveland Institute of Music and Oberlin Conservatory of Music)
I know the students there, even though I still have four years to go, but they seem like they practice a lot... I am a person that practice whenever I feel like practicing, so I don't know how much I practice.

Sorry for not being able to explain... It will help if we had some teachers with degrees in here...

Natsu
