baratone repertoire please
on: August 24, 2016, 09:16:37 PM
A friend of mine sings in a choir and every few years they have to audition again for their place.  As I am focusing on my accompanying I offered to work through some with him prior to the big test.  However he does not have any solo singing repertoire so I am asking for any suggestions.  He is a baritone and the pieces need to be no more than 5 minutes long and relatively easy for the poor old pianist too please.

Thank you for the link to IMSLP for 727 baritone scores  ::) but to be honest I was hoping some of you accompanied singers and could recommend some audition pieces from experience - anyone able to help?

Well, I know it was a pretty broad answer just to link you to a lot of scores. But you didn't give us any hint of what sort of music you like.

Lately I've been learning a bunch of Faure and de Falla songs, all of which work for baritone. For example,

L'Aurore

Les Berceaux

Les Roses d'Isphahan

And by de Falla

Dios mio que solos se quedan los muertos
