ABRSM: Piano theory, self study?
on: August 25, 2016, 08:27:13 PM
I just like a structured approach, and I'm wondering if it possible to learn enough theory using the ABRSM official materials to past the ABRSM theory exams?
It is possible to do these without doing the performance piece of the exams?
Thank you!

Hi Bernadette
If you are lacking on theory (depending on whether you want to do it or not) Are you from the UK?
As Trinity College also do piano exams and don't require your theory for your grade 5-8.
That aside - Yes I believe you're right I think ABRSM have some ABRSM-approved theory material that should provide you the knowledge you need to pass your theory exam.
Something like this may be useful and goes from grade 1-5 with a workbook and the answer book is free along with some free audio to practice your aural.
