Yesterday's improvisation (ending)
on: August 26, 2016, 01:35:46 AM
I haven't posted anything for ages. It is probably good to do so every month or two, if only to show newcomers to the forum that free improvisation and its deviant aesthetic are viable musical options; that completely personal ways of playing the piano exist, and are as good as any other.

Nice, some moments remind me of Scriabin.

Thanks for listening marijn, pleased you like it. Scriabin ? That's a new reaction. I haven't played any Scriabin, and listen to very little of it. I do like his 42/5 study though. Who really knows what sinks in unconsciously ?

I can't explain why I enjoyed that, but I really, really did. I have always been a bit scared of improvisation, myself. Thank you for posting this!

Thanks for listening, pjjslp.

I have always been a bit scared of improvisation, myself.

The only way around that is to just start doing it regularly until the inhibition disappears. There are hundreds of ways to start, depending on how you want to end up, what sort of music you like, but in general begin with freedom and work towards form. This direction runs contrary to most learning processes, which makes it feel strange at first.
