Scriabin Opus 2 No 7 Etude
on: January 06, 2005, 03:29:31 AM
I love this piece, but why is it so hard to get it under my fingers?  It seems I get a few measures to flow at about tempo just enough to attain the ephemeral qulity of the piece when - wonk!  -  those leaps in the left hand just get the better of me.  I know - slow practice - hands apart - but this seems to be coming together so much more slowly than other pieces.  What is it with this and the left hand?  Or is it more than just the left hand that eludes me here?

Are you referring to the C-sharp minor etude?  If so, I think you meant Op. 2 No. 1.

Pretty much all the Scriabin studies are nasty for the left hand.
It never really gets confortable.   :( But what piece are you talking about? You must have messed up some numbers...

Oopsy!  Opus "8" No. 7 it  is.  Yes, I think you've nailed it - the left hand!  Yargh!  Boy, what one could do with a right hand injury, i.e., learn the left hand of all the great Scriabin pieces.  Woo hoo!  Then when the right hand recovered - voila!!!  Masterdom.
