Where to go from here, Intermediate Pianist
on: September 06, 2016, 03:24:14 PM
I'm an adult student.  I was self taught for a year where I went through a course.  Then I've been taking lessons since January.  I've been trying to find some moderately challenging pieces both technical and lyrical and could use some help.

Hardest piece I can play: Solfeggietto by CPE Bach

I've played a lot of Vandall's works from his books.  But they're all kinda sounding the same.

Basically I am wanting a few pieces to learn of different styles so I can extend my practice times and work on different areas.  Any help is appreciated.

That sounds great!  Off topic, what model of piano are you playing?

That sounds great!  Off topic, what model of piano are that's not me.

---------------------------

I don't have an upright, i' have a small  grand and an electric for 'silent' practice in my home studio/practice room :)

this is my acoustic

. I like some uprights for certain types of practice but I don't have space at the moment or a budget for a 3rd instrument /2nd acoustic :(

also the pieces have a variety of styles including romantic and jazz influenced, minimalist/abstract, concert transcription/virtuosity etc. You can spend a lot of time in there and not be bored/dare I rather enjoyed it and found myself working a couple extra hours per day when i had the time to spare playing the entire thing through start to finish, it's that good.

i have that book (i bought it the day it released and had it rushed to the US from Japan) and learned the whole thing over about a year or so of work on the side, a few years ago, some are quite challenging but others might be attainable/should be for you  with enough work. i recently picked it up again as I never actually recorded any of the pieces which i regret so i hope to get them on my channel in the next year or so....

i dearly love the entire album but even though this is not the hardest of the lot i find myself drawn to it the most...has a neo impressionist ballad type feel to it....
