Need Help!!
on: January 06, 2005, 10:07:04 PM
Hi,

This is my first time and I really need help.  I want to purchased a Bergmann 131 upright piano.  However, I don't know what price is right for this piano.  I just went to a store call "Piano City" which located at West Covina, CA and got the price for $4200 somewhere around there.  I also went to another "Piano City" located at Colton, CA and price over there is $3795.  I am totally lost.  Can anyone who can tell me what price is right?  Thank you very much.  You can post on the forum or you can send me e-mail directly.

You'll get more information by posting at the Piano World forum.  It's far more geared to piano purchasing.

2800-$3100 so,,, somwhere around 3,000 brand new,, this is for Ebony Gloss,, you can probably find a used on (3-5 years old)  for around 1,000

watch out for salesmen,, they are very convincing,,  ;D

you can also check out young-changs website,, you might find some more info there..

Eva, keep in mind piano prices are never written in stone.  The price will vary depending on services offered by the retailer, time of year, condition of the piano, size of market, and ULTIMATELY, how corrupt and money grabbing the store is.  haha trying to find a piano store that tries to make a modest profit instead of a killing is near impossible, no matter where you live.  Piano salespeople are, in my opinion, the only salespeople more sneaky than a used car salesperson.  Ha!!  There were times I was surprised they didnt hang me upside down by my ankles when I walked in so the money in my pockets would fall out!

donjuan,

You're right on the money,,, I know exactly what you mean,,, They're incredible,, once I had a salesman try to sell me a Baldwin 'L' by telling me how nice the big gold wheels are,, and how it has a hydraulic fall board , trying to sell me a piano with its little gimmicks, hahah im like "who is this guy fooling" haha

Thanks for quick replying, guys.

I just join pianoworld yesterday after making a super stupid mistake for buying a weird brand "Vienna" from a local dealer. Some people have already warned about "Vienna" before.....but I just joined too late to read the postings.

That's all my mistake to buy a piano without asking opinions and doing enough homework first.

As a piano beginner, I was totally fooled by the dealer and conviced to buy too fast.
Hope it is not too late,'cause the contract has a 30 days exchange policy, but maybe I will still lose couple hundred dollars or more for my lesson.

Due to the limited brands the dealer carries,I can only go for "Weinbach", which may be the best brand they have, and forget "Bergmann" also raise my budget for $3k more.........Hope I can get a good deal on my Saturday fighting with the salesman again. It is really an expensive lesson and experience for buying my piano.

Thanks again.
