Original piano works
on: September 11, 2016, 06:37:59 AM
After quite a few years since I posted something on this forum, having almost given up piano playing quite a few times, a few weeks ago, I decided that I love piano and composing so much that I can't just give up. So, I went ahead and started recording some of my music, if only to share it with the world at least once before getting old and dying with the music inside, :). Sorry, a bit dramatic there...

Anyway, since a few weeks ago I have been recording a series piano pieces and making videos out of them with relaxing backgrounds mostly. I'd like to know what you guys think of the music so, please check these out in the below link and let me know what you guys think. I have recorded 7 pieces so far, with more coming soon:

Nice playing.  So why were you going to quit? You sound a bit too accomplished to be considering giving it up.  Something happen? Bad gig?

Thank you!
Well, you could say, life happened. Having to work full time to support my family didn't let me much free time to dedicate it to serious piano practice to become a professional performer or finish a degree in music, plus the fact that I kind of got into music a bit late (in my teens) compared to most really good pianists who start when they are like 4 or 5... Maybe it's been my own mind playing tricks on me telling me I'll never make it. So, all that discouraged me a lot. Now, I guess I'm pretty much resigned to whatever happens, happens, since so many years have passed and we can't go back in time. I'm just happy that I can still throw some notes around and, I guess I will continue making as much music as I can, regardless of what comes out of it. :)

Again, thanks for you kind words!

Hey you sound just as neurotic as the rest of us. It's the mark of a true pianist.  Maybe redefining "making it" may help you see things more clearly.  You have "made it" to a level that few reach despite your perceived obstacles.  Being able to play what you feel and having it sound pleasing to the ear is quite an accomplishment.  Don't sell yourself short.   Keep playing David.

Sincerely,
Laurie
