Here is a thought that just popped in my mind.  Why not set up a wildlife sanctuary that will house 2000 elephants and be protected by walls and armed guards and funded by countries that volunteer to fund?  The purpose would be to keep the elephants from becoming extinct.  At the same time keep ivory laws as they have been in the past (no crazy new laws like the new U.S. law) or even make the laws less strict.  Maybe the elephants in the wild will have another 20-30 years left before they are wiped out.  But we can keep the 2000 elephants in the wildlife sanctuary going though. Maybe the goal should be to just keep the elephants from becoming extinct through a great wildlife sanctuary.  If the 2000 got wiped out due to some disease or terrorist attack or something else, it would not be the end of the world.  I’m sure this could most likely be prevented.  Maybe have 3 smaller separate sanctuaries.

Of course I understand that an idea formed in a 2 minute period without research will likely have flaws.

I could have made this a poll, but we may have had enough polls lately.  Choose among the following 2 poll choices:  1) save the elephants OR 2) protect large beasts  ;).

Also, I will understand if no one wishes to discuss here after having already discussed the current new US law that regulates the sale of ivory in detail.  I will not be participating in this discussion.

Regards.
