Evaluation of my current level
on: September 16, 2016, 02:15:35 PM
Hey everybody :),

I'm new here so I don't know if its the right section to ask.  ???

I'm 19-Years old and played piano for 8 years now, but 2 years of it i hadn't a teacher(there i worked on some Animenz Arrangements ;D).

My repertoire(studied with a teacher):

Bach Invention no. 1
Beethoven Für Elise
Chopin Prelude Op 28, 4
Bach Fughetta BWV 902
Mozart Sonata Facile K545
Chopin Walzer a-moll KK IVb,11
Bach Prelude & Fugue BWV 884

Now im working on Mozarts Rondo alla Turca.
I know its hard to judge what level/grade I am, based on my text, but after i finished Rondo alla Turca i really want to learn the Chopin Etude Op 10 no. 3 or the Liszt Études d´exécution transcendante no. 3 "Paysage" and i don't know if it is too early for my to start with them. :-\
Apart from this, what pieces do you think are the effiecent ones to improve my technique at my current level ?  :)

Thanks  :)
ps. sry for my bad english  ;D

Hi and welcome to Pianostreet!

Grade levels are useful for studying graded syllabi, but less so for personal development.  Everyone develops their skills at a different pace, so what one person finds easy another can require a lot of work to learn a specific skill.

Try working on more of the Bach Inventions and Sinfonias.  WTC is a natural extension of study from the 2 and 3 part inventions so pick out more pieces from here.

Take on a complete Beethoven Sonata, something from the 32.

Study more of the Chopin Preludes.  Op 10/3 is a huge leap from the Chopin pieces you have listed.  If you would like to do an Etude check out Op 25/2.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Thanks for your answer.
I will follow your advice and try to work on some Bach pieces and chopin preludes.
Concerning a Beethoven sonata do you think Beethoven Sonata in f-minor op 2 no 1 would be a good choice?
