Hey what about this guy!
He's coming next weekend to Bates College to give a concert which I'm looking foward to attending. Anybody here heard him?

I've heard him twice. The first time in the Beethoven 4th and the second time in the Bach Brandenburg #5 (playing piano not harpsichord).
He is a very interesting pianist, almost eccentric. He was dressed each time in slacks and a very colorful shirt. He sits so low at the piano, he's almost on the floor. (Don't ask me how he can even play in that position.)
I didn't like his Beethoven particularly. It's one of my favorite concertos and I had the great good fortune to hear it in concert many years ago with Serkin and the Philadelphia Orchestra. So in all fairness, I must admit all performances I've ever heard (both live and on CD) pale in comparison to that.
His Bach was extraordinary. The articulation was unbelievable. His playing reminded me of Gould's. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about the Brandeburg being played on a modern Steinway, however, it was an unqualified success.
Just curious, what is he performing at Bates?
