Tango music for dancers
on: October 27, 2016, 06:02:37 AM
Hi All,
I have been requested to provide a Tango for a dance club. I am not very familiar with the Tango
and just wondering if anybody knows of must haves for a group of people that like 20th century swing/jazz/rock before 1960 and now requesting Tango. Any advice appreciated

I can't provide many titles. The only one I would mention is "Taquito Militar" by Mariano Mores - just because I'm so fond of it. There are several well-known tango composers/performers of the 1920s and 30s who are considered to be the "big names" - two of the best known being Carlos Gardel and Julian Plazas. Of course there's Piazzolla and the "Tango Nuevo", but I don't think his music would work that well for dancing. There should be lots of music by these guys available on YouTube for you to sample.

happy dancing,
jeff o'k

Thank you so much jeff o'k.  I will definitely check those out. I have a feeling I am about to be doing alot more Tango music. Maybe should learn the dance, had not thought of that.
