Let's write a story....
on: January 11, 2005, 04:48:03 PM
The rules: only one word per post, no consecutive posts from the same member and no punctuation (some members already excel in this regard, hehe).

I'll start.

this will never work- you can't write a story like that, it'll just be another thread like the 'fall' thread.
We need a paragraph each at least. :)

True creativity lies in simplicity! Why use a whole paragraph if a single word suffices? Don't make me guess what your gender is ;D

Ouch, ouch. Don't hit me. Ouch, no, not there, it hurts. ;)

[Er, well perhaps a whole story was a little ambitious. I was at least hoping for a sentence which would ramble mysteriously (and amusingly?), as each participant thought of what direction it should next follow, but was only able to express this direction with the addition of one word, even if it was just a preposition or a conjunction. Then, the sentence would be at the mercy of the next contributor Anyway, let's carry on. Perhaps it would be easier to follow if we cut and pasted the whole sentence, adding our word at the end thus:]

ok here it goes:  once, twice, thrice mathematically reproduced food precariously teetered almost silently atop _________ until a glowing ominously black mould started pulsating viciously underneath IT.  "it" is my word.  this would aptly describe a player piano in a practice room.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.
