Mozart Sonata Movements
on: January 08, 2017, 01:49:16 AM

Hello guys, I was wonder if anybody could help me;

I was looking for a few Mozart sonata movements around the early advanced levels to work on. I have seen listings of each sonata ranked against each other. however I was hoping for a more specific listing on a few of the movements.

I have worked on a few movements from the K331 sonata (2nd and 3rd), as well as the complete K545 sonata.

Thanks
- Chris

Maurice Hinson has published some of the Mozart sonatas-- and lists the order of difficulty from easiest to most difficult by movement  ---- see page 7 in the book below ---unfortunately, it is not all-inclusive, but maybe a start

https://books.google.com/books?id=EV1KbVXxwwoC&pg=PA2&lpg=PA2&dq=maurice+hinson+mozart&source=bl&ots=uLVbM29BGV&sig=2KXDWMf_pJwTLaTTk4BTucAsXHA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf4JqxvrHRAhUE2SYKHaBpBQU4ChDoAQggMAE#v=onepage&q=maurice%20hinson%20mozart&f=false

If you want to check a specific sonata, you can enter the opus number here, and it will display the different movement ratings--  unfortunately, you can't search all sonatas at once as there are more than 100 displays

No 2 in f major holds a special place in my heart as it was one of my first assigned pieces in school. The 1st movement is probably the least difficult but honestly if that, then just barely. It remains one of my favorites of the mozart sonata output to this day, I recall my prof remarking it was early advanced level or  so

I'd suggest the first movement of either k. 332 or k. 570. They're both really nice and help in buliding lots of foundations.
