Obsessing over Chopin thread
on: January 17, 2017, 10:35:23 PM
Omg!!! What do you think of the newly discovered Chopin photo?

I've only found two different articles on this besides the one on the main page, so I'm not sure if its real but if it is damn!!! This third picture is so different compared to his other two photos and paintings/sketches. He looks healthier and perhaps a bit pissed off? I know it's weird to get excited over a dead dude's photo, but we're all piano enthusiasts so I'm positive that I'm not alone! lol

I am kinda spooked...lol. I get it totally.  Those eyes are staring back at me over an ocean of time. Makes him seem even more enigmatic...and at the same time CLOSER.

I really, really want to believe it is real---- but, as was pointed out on another forum, the 'discovery' has not even been mentioned in the Polish news, which dims my optimism a little.

Interesting that the discoverer of this photo is the same man that discovered Chopin's Pleyel .
I hope there is continued coverage and an outcome of the authenticity.

Here is a facebook posting, which can be translated by using 'choose language' in the upper right section.

Apparently it's not an original, but a reproduction, which is a shame.

Nevertheless, only hearing positive things about it at the moment

I  think he looks as though he is getting tired sitting  waiting ,  as he wants to get on  with more important things,  such as composing.   Or maybe busting to go to the  mensroom.    :)

It was taken in 1848 i think, by then he rarely composed any music. Cant think of anything he wrote during that period...

But yeah ur right, looks pissed offf. "Gahhh!!! Wheres my babe jane stirling!!!"

Thanks mjames.
I'd like to explore Chopin a bit more.  Do you know of a good Chopin forum?

Hey, Yewtree:
If you want to explore Chopin, I would strongly recommend that you keep a teacher.  IMHO, even the simplest Chopin is harder to play well than it looks.  I have been obsessing (with my teacher) over three Chopin nocturnes for longer than I care to admit... but it has all been needed and all good if I want to play Chopin well.
A chopin thread?   Just start one here at PS.   You will find many Chopin addicts that will contribute.  :)

I don't want to give up my lessons, I do still practice, but I am at the stage with my pieces where I  know I need help.  So yes, I shall seek out a tutor and see how often I need him/her .

I actually purchased a book called,  It's Easy to Play Chopin,   Easy to read, simplified arrangements of some of the best loved pieces of Chopin.    Arranged by  Daniel Scott.
Looking through the pieces, they look manageable for me to learn.  So this should keep me going.
Along with stuff I am already learning.
