Messiaen - Le baiser de l'enfant Jesus
on: February 08, 2017, 03:37:43 PM
this is the beguiling 15th movement of Vingt Regards sur l'enfant Jesus, the lullaby movement that is a terrific sort of lisztian - ravelian concert piece. the first section is a long lullaby in pretty simple form, then after a virtuoso cadenza based on the octatonic scale the music really gets moving. hard parts are remembering the constellations of chords, building up the huge climax, and the overall pacing. hope you love this piece

there's some very good playing here, although I never managed to appreciate Messiaen much and I'm really not in a position to judge the performance.
Do you know if there is maybe some more "accessible" music that I could try to listen from him?
