the performance at the local small venue theater. The county symphony orchestra is going to do the Rach 3 concerto with Orion Weiss. The place is very laid back and there is lots of kibitzing afterwards.I don't know whan an orchestra breaks down their stuff or how informal it is - or if there is tear down the next day.I'll be looking for clues of other people may be doodling on the piano or if not, until there is almost no one there and it looks like no one cares. I'm going to try and talk to Weiss about octaves too. Who knows, he might say "Let me show you."It wouldn't bother me either to be forcibly removed if I got a couple minutes in. I could always holler, "Elder Abuse!" haha But you know, if I play Stars & Stripes, they might feel unpatriotic asking me to desist. The piano is probably a rental, and the lure of properly prepared 9' concert grand is just too much... The purpose of all this is for me alone - I could care less who hears me.I wonder if anyone has ever done this???
For the record, I have never heard of this artist, and among my other endeavors I write reviews.
dogperson, Thanks or the first rehearsal suggestion - are there other rehearsals? I've heard the symphonies have resident pianists that can quickly gets the notes down for a concerto for practice beforehand. Considering the smallness of this orchestra (and the venue too,) I wonder if there is anyone local good enough to do that. But Yes, the rehearsal is a great idea.I was flabbergasted when I heard this orchestra was going to do he Rach 3 - I know it is monumental for the pianists, but what about the orchestra? how hard for them? They are going to do Beethoven's 9th a couple of months after that too. Pretty amazing - they get an A for determination.I did send them an email suggesting Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre for a "we've done the Rach 3 - now what?" That sure would be the buzz around town.I didn't get your last sentence about asking the technique question, missing word? I got the drift that a performer may not want to give away any secrets - I don't know how cutthroat the virtuoso racket is. If a young kid asks, I can see it. But I'm 64 years old so he'd probably feel sorry for me.
For the record, my post, detailed in answer, was posted and then deleted. It contained no foul language, and no personal affronts.I just wanted you guys to know what is going regarding what we call in the U.S. as "Gined-up posts."That means the founder/moderator contacts certain individuals to post their so-called response posts.
Louis, please get over your paranoid behavior. Your post, in its entirety and complete beauty is still on this thread! The OP accidentally credited me with your post! Please read the thread and look for your name on the left as a poster.
I would love to do it, but I guess I'm just too conservative. My fear would not be a cease and decist, but "hold your hands behind your back so we can cuff you easier".
