I believe the classical music took a turn for the worse when this happened.
Dignity was diminished - and it spilled over into the performers: "Hey, look at me!"
And so we have everyone trying to externalize emotion as much as possible, both real and fake.
If these expressions were genuine there would be way more actual tears. And frankly, thinking here, I can't recall a single youtube of anyone shedding a few - because I would notice that like a heart attack.
And Lang Lang...
please stop doing that!
