Sections or Pieces without the pinky
on: June 09, 2017, 02:07:55 AM
Hey all,
Which pieces contain large, difficult sections which do not require the right pinky? I recently injured it, and I think I have tendinitis. I will let it heal by not using it, along with rest and nutrition (proper nutrition is highly recommended, for those who are suffering from tendonitis).
But I just can't stop the urge to play.
So, like many who have injured an entire hand, they practice one handed sonatas, and such. But practicing with one hand is kind of boring to me.
Both of my hands are functioning, just the RH pinky is jammed.
Can you guys recommend complex sections for me to practice so I don't have to do so in the future, should I decide to take the rest of the piece on? I don't really have musical preferences, so any piece from any composer is welcome.
For example, I have practiced the first cadenza of Liszt's Liebestraum no.3, and can play it fluently, as it does not require at all the RH pinky.
Can anyone creatively search for similar sections (or even etudes for that matter)? Occasional use of the RH pinky is also okay, but I'd rather avoid it to let it heal properly.
I would be awfully grateful to anyone who can create a list!
Please also note that complex sections focusing on the left hand are also allowed, which I believe opens up many more options.
Thanks

Chopin: Prelude op28no3 or the revolutionary etude?
Rachmaninov: Prelude op23no5 middle section
Bach: learn the left hand of any fugue in the wtc (and add the right hand later)
