Why was my post deleted?
on: June 26, 2017, 09:07:11 PM
I recently posted an improvisation I did a before I got into recovery from drug addiction and in the thread was a fairly chsrged, but still intellectual discussion about addiction and addictions play in music.
The post seems to have disappeared from the improvisation section.... can I atleast get an explanation as too why? I had many people on my side about recovery and the music itself. Two people seemed rather pissed but over all the message was to not do drugs. It just mentioned heorin... should we in turn take away any reference to berlioz and liszt? They glorified it's use far more than I did even whilst using.
It was a very honest discussion on addiction. Someone please explain this too me.

I also wanted to go back in and publicly thank some of the things said about me specifically to furtwaengler (the user not the conductor.... though if anyone can bring back the dead I'd love to thank the conductor as well.)
Just here to lurk and cringe at my old posts now.

Hi Cabbynum.  I agree the discussion was honest and you made it very clear that one should not take drugs.  My guess is the title of the thread did not help.  Seeing this appear on their home page as a topic for discussion over and over may not be the best for their business.  I agree that Pianostreet member Furtwanger did a great job in bringing a point of view to light that I had not considered.  I also agree that the conductor Furtwangler is great as well.  I remember having a recorded copy of his 1950 live La Scala performance of Wagner’s complete Ring cycle as a kid and this performance is special to me.  Best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear that it was deleted.  I only got to hear part, and read part of the discussion because I was very busy at the time.

Well I wasn't "pissed" just not agreeing with how it was all presented there's a difference there. I can understand you might feel I was attacking you because I wasn't singing praises and questioning the ethics of posting a title about specific drug usage and its effect on a musical work. You probably realize it can seem very unethical to certain people to post titles like this and especially on a forum where children read also (and the argument that some children are exposed to worse things doesn't excuse subjecting them to lesser evils here). Your best bet for explanation is to message nilsjohan privately for a reason if you don't know why.

Obviously one can't expect absolutely consistent moderation, but a quick forum scan finds threads that might be considered every bit as contentious  (if not more so), e.g.
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=50509.0 (similar topic) and
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=61673.0 potentially libellous, and I recall wondering about this at the time).

I was baffled by this too.  I posted a reply.  Once I saw it was deleted without notice I felt it right for me to cancel my subscription to this site. The moderator could have just asked you to change the wording or title.

Although a worthwhile discussion, the topic could due to a combination of factors unfortunately not be considered "family friendly". Since we do not publicly discuss details about moderation this topic will now be locked and further question or suggestions can be sent to me by PM.
