Why isn't there a Harry Potter animated movie?
on: September 02, 2017, 08:05:22 AM

I vaguely thought I remembered there being an animated movie of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone but I think I was wrong, it was Lord of the Rings.

Wouldn't it fit to have some kind of a Disney-like animated version of HP?

1) It's for children anyway.
2) It's about magic anyway.
3) It's ABOUT children anyway.
4) The badguys are wearing black, have red eyes, etc. Isn't that all to familiar.
5) There's a Disney Marvel so there's no reason not to have a Disney Harry Potter.

Or maybe they should have done that with Star Wars, too, since they bought the franchise. They should have re-made it with added singing and stuff.

That would be interesting.  I could see a cartoon series too with that style.

The movies went off way more dark and gritty than what I was picturing when I read the books.

Maybe they've just held off on it?  How long until there's a reboot?

Somebody must have thought of it.  It must have been brought up before.  It's probably something like a business decision -- Which makes more money?

From what I understand J.K. Rowling (or J-Row) is super protective of the franchise and doesn't want anyone else messing with it. So, if there was an animated film or TV series she would have to be involved somehow and I imagine by now she is probably completely over it.

Westerners are crappy at making adventurous and dramatic cartoons.
