Hi! I'm new...
on: January 17, 2005, 08:33:53 AM
Hey everyone..

I have been reading these forums for a while and I think it's very useful. My name is Ryan, and I live in Perth, in Western Australia. I study a bachelor of education (music education) at an institution called the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and I am enjoying it very much. I have been playing piano since I was about 6, but only started taking it seriously in the past few years.

Some of my recent repertoire include Debussy's Prelude from Suite Bergamasque, Chopin Nocturne Op 72 No 1, Liszt Liebestraum No 3, Mozart Sonate K576, Beethoven Pathetique 3rd Movt, and Bartok Ostinato (from Mikrokosmos book 6)

At the moment i'm learning Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op 32 No 2, Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu, his Revalutionary Etude (Op 10 No 12), and Nocturne in C minor (Op 48 No 1). As you can tell, Chopin is a very strong influence on me, and I also like playing most generic repertoire that everyone knows, although I am trying to make an effort to break away from this and learn some not so popular stuff.

Apart from piano, I can also play clarinet and alto saxophone, a bit of trumpet and a bit of flute.

Anyways that's about it for my introduction! Nice to meet you all  :)

Welcome.  I'm still a bit miffed that the censor for this board censors your first name, however  :P
