Rakshasi Hornpipe
on: October 29, 2017, 03:03:12 AM
The other day I was discussing, with a forum member, the significance of personal attractors in improvisation, loosely speaking, ideas or playing forms which form a permanent component of a player's vocabulary. They can characterise one's music either positively or negatively depending on circumstances, but some, such as the pentatonic cell around 2:00 here, seem enduringly joyous. I coined the term "Rakshasi Hornpipe" for this type of cell after the liberating dance in Aldous Huxley's novel, "Island".

Classic Ted! Lots of really tuneful sections here! Love those growly descending runs at the end.
