Elgar Salut D'amour - Violin & Piano

Hello everyone at PianoStreet,

this is really fabulous, a lot to like here, the violin is on point, intonation and expressive spot on, lovely piano, nice hall, the video quality is superb (what did you use?), the piano playing compliments and shines without taking away from the soloist, really, just enjoyed this immensely, bravo!

Thanks for posting this, one of my favourite melodies and very well played. It is amazing how, even in a small piece such as this, that same soaring beauty, which only Elgar could create, shines from it. It leaps out of the only known recordings of his piano improvisation too, giving the lie to all the anecdotes about his hating the instrument. When my teacher was a choirboy at Llandaff Cathedral Elgar used to visit occasionally to conduct the choir. He was taken with the little boy's improvising and spent time with him showing him "tricks". My teacher told me he was more like a kindly farmer than a famous composer, seemingly unaware of his immense talent.
