Chopin Sonatas

Is there any book out there that anyone could recommend for tackling these sonatas?

I think what he meant was a book that gave a better perspective on the piece. Well, I don't know of any on Chopin's Sonatas (since they're less well-known), but I still recommend Play It Again, which is about an amateur pianist learning Chopin's 1st Ballade, which is kind of similar.
I did find one book called
Sonata Fragments: Romantic Narratives in Chopin, Schumann, and Brahms
, by Andrew Davis. I haven't read it, but now I want to! That seems like a good one to read.
