Starting at 23

Hello, mi name is Carlos Rueda. I always love the music but I never started to play any instrument. Do you think that I could start to play piano first? Or, there are some skills that I should have learned before? I´m 23 and able to dedicate to the music. -sorry for the english-

Your English is fine. I would not worry about your age at all. if you want to learn to play the piano, and are willing to dedicate the time and energy to practice, you will fell incredible satisfaction and have a great time. Don't worry about what others say about starting "too late". they mean "too late to be a world class concert pianist" and that's all. Many teachers (including mine, unfortunately) think that if you aren't winning competitions by 25 your life is over. Sadly, most competitions have a 30-year-old cutoff for admission, so by definition, budding concert pianists are considered doomed if they haven't won something major by the time they are 30. This would have people like me believing that I should have just slashed my wrists on my 30th birthday and ended it all.
Upon some reflection I started looking back at all the things I've done in my life so far (I am 48). I realized that the BEST and COOLEST things (music included) I've done have almost all happened SINCE I've turned 30.
So the short answer is: Take the lessons! Have a blast! Work hard! You'll love it!
