Hi everyone...!  Here is a follow-up- question to all of you concert pianists out there! How long did you practice before you participated in your first pianocompetition?  And how long did it take 'til you could read notes fluently (if you can) ?

I won the first piano competition in which I participated (4th-8th grade solo & ensemble festival).  I had been taking lessons for nearly 2 years at that point.

Oh my god, you won your first...?  :DI have never been at a competition whatsoever, so i wonder: are all competants pro:s or is there different classes depending on grade of difficulty? How good are you at reading notes?  I mean how long does it take you to "translate" notes, and can you do a prima vista?

This might be difficult for most of you to know, but is there any competitions in Sweden?
